Romeo and Juliet

The Santa Barbara Symphony concludes its sensational 2018-2019 season with the beloved classic Romeo & Juliet. William Shakespeare’s immortal tragedy has inspired masterful scores by the likes of Berlioz, Prokofiev, and even Leonard Bernstein, and perhaps the most emotionally relevant of them all, Tchaikovsky’s Overture-Fantasy. Following Romeo and Juliet, the performance also features Elmer Bernstein’s eclectic, post-Romantic Songs of Love and Loathing (premiered by the Symphony in 1989), Antonín Dvorák’s euphoric Symphony No. 8, and vocals from Mezzo-Soprano Leann Sandel-Pantaleo.
