UCSB Arts & Lectures presents the groundbreaking duo Black Violin, classically-trained musicians bringing hip-hop samples and a party atmosphere to their dueling strings on their Classical Boom Tour on Sat., Jan. 26, at 3 p.m. at UCSB Campbell Hall.
Black Violin’s genre-shattering sound is an unforgettable fusion of strings, beats, grooves and rhythms. Violist Wil B. and violinist Kev Marcus, longtime friends and musical partners, blur the lines between genre and race, using their passion to break stereotypes. For them, the violin is a vehicle to send a bigger message: “not to be afraid to be different.” Their unique, family-friendly show is a classical-meets-hip-hop extravaganza.
