Santa Barbara-based outdoor-lifestyle apparel brand Toad&Co is taking its brand on the road, trekking cross-country in a 1963 Shasta trailer the brand is calling “Save The Planet. Wear Sustainable.”
The trailer is headed to Santa Barbara on Wednesday, Dec. 12 with a stop at Topa Topa Brewing Co. (120 Santa Barbara St.) from 5:30-9:30 p.m.
Toad&Co. has some interesting facts about the fashion industry on their website, including that the global apparel industry (which includes clothing and footwear) accounts for 8% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. Why? Because roughly 150 billion articles of clothing are produced annually and the majority are made under less that stellar circumstances.
With a goal to “help the public gain a greater understanding of the apparel industry while empowering folks to purchase sustainably, the mobile tour aims to highlight the fact that the apparel industry is the fourth worst polluting industry world-wide and is a major contributor towards climate change. Urging customers to join the movement, the Save the Planet. Wear Sustainable. cross-country mobile tour will allow for customers to learn more about how to make sustainable choices and purchase from Toad&Co’s new Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 collections, the latter of which is 100% eco-friendly.”
