UCSB Arts & Lectures presents Grammy Award-winning folk & roots music for families with The Okee Dokee Brothers, performing songs from their new album Winterland on Sat., Dec. 1, at 3 p.m. at UCSB Campbell Hall. They’ll bring the snow to Santa Barbara in this tribute to the season of coziness, family time and fun!
Justin Lansing and Joe Mailander have been exploring the outdoors together since they were kids. Now they’re a Grammy Award-winning folk and roots music duo that puts the natural world at the heart of their Americana music, with songs written under wide-open skies and harmonies fine-tuned around the campfire. Their new album, Winterland, is a voyage from autumn to spring, presenting music the entire family can enjoy while cozying up around the fire. The Okee Dokee Brothers make room for kids to dance, for parents to share stories and for everyone to gain respect for nature, each other and the world we live in. They’ll inspire your family to get outside and get creative!
The four-time Parents’ Choice Award winners have garnered praise from the likes of NPR’s All Things Considered and USA Today and have been called “two of family music’s best songwriters.”
Joe and Justin celebrate the spirit of the winter season on their latest full-length studio album, Winterland, released Oct. 19. Following their critically-acclaimed Adventure Album Series featuring Can You Canoe?, Through the Woods, and Saddle Up, The Okee Dokee Brothers release an exuberant yet introspective collection of 16 original songs exploring the wonders and beauty of winter.
Winterland embraces the cycles of loss and new life, darkness and light, bitter cold and warmth. It explores winter as not only a season defined by the weather, but as a feeling we carry within. Join The Okee Dokee Brothers as they welcome you to experience a refreshing, wide-eyed view of the most exciting time of year.
