Pianist Richard Goode Opens CAMA’s 2018/2019 Masterseries Season

Master pianist Richard Goode returns to Santa Barbara for his fourth CAMA appearance—traversing more than a century of keyboard music from Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin to Janáček’s ravishing early 20th Century piano cycle In the Mists—in a not-to-be-missed recital to open CAMA’s 2018/2019 Masterseries at The Lobero Theatre (33 E. Canon Perdido St., Santa Barbara). Part of CAMA’s much anticipated 100th Concert Season, the concert will begin at 8 p.m. on Friday, November 9.

Over the past five decades, Richard Goode has been hailed for music-making of tremendous emotional power, depth, and expressiveness and acknowledged as one of the world’s leading interpreters of Classical and Romantic piano music. In regular performances with the major orchestras, recitals in the world’s music capitals and through his extensive and acclaimed Nonesuch recordings, he has won a large and devoted following.

Goode, a member of CAMA’s Centennial Honorary Artists Council, will also hold a master class at the Department of Music, UC Santa Barbara on Thursday, November 8. Co-sponsored by CAMA and the Department, the master class will begin at 6 p.m. in Karl Geiringer Hall. The class is free but reservations should be made at this link.
