Be a Dane for the weekend at the upcoming 82nd annual Solvang Danish Days!
From Friday, September 14 through Sunday, September 16, the free festival will honor the founding of Solvang in 1911. With this year’s theme of “Beautiful Denmark by the Sea,” Danish Days is offering three popular parades: “Torchlight” on Friday night, the “Main Parade” on Saturday afternoon, and the “Children’s Parade” on Sunday afternoon.
–The Rincons, a surf-rock band, perform live at 4 p.m. at the Solvang Park (Mission Dr. and First St.).
-The Viking Beer & Wine Garden is serving historic Danish suds and local craft brews, along with food from 5 to 10 p.m. (21 and over only).
-At the opening ceremony night, meet the 2018 Danish Days Maid Christiana Heron at 8 p.m. (Midgaard Pavilion, 1639 Copenhagen Dr.).
-Enjoy an Aebleskiver Breakfast (Danish pancake Breakfast) from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Breakfast is $7 without meat and $8 with Danish Sausage (Copenhagen Dr. & First St.).
-Free music is also offered on Saturday by the Danish Playboys Revisited at 4 p.m., and the T-Bone Ramblers following from 7 to 10 p.m. (Midgaard Pavilion, 1639 Copenhagen Dr.).
–The Viking Beer & Wine Garden will also be open on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
-Aebleskiver Breakfast is also available on Sunday from 8:30 to 12:30 p.m. (Copenhagen Dr. & First St.).
-The free Living History Festival entails storytellers, craftspeople, and interactive activities for all ages from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Elverhoj Museum of History & Art, 1624 Elverhoy Way).
-The Danish Days closing ceremony takes place at 2:30 p.m. by the honorary Maid Christiana Heron (Solvang Park, 1st St. & Mission Dr.).
