Jackson Family Wines recently teamed up with local nonprofit Unity Shoppe for the Bikes for Kids charity event. Taking place at the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront, Jackson Family Wines brought together 250 of their employees to help with the charity’s efforts. Employees of the company built a total of 50 bikes to be donated to children within the community.
Jackson Family Wines sales team members were distributed into teams of 10-15 people. Each team was responsible for building two bikes for the cause. Along with the event, the winery donated $5,000 to Unity Shoppe to support the nonprofit’s work in supplying life necessities and education to families in need.
Unity Shoppe’s Bikes for Kids program is part of a national foundation that has donated 42,000 bikes to children across the U.S. beginning in 2002. Jackson Family Wines’ work with Unity Shoppe and the foundation is part of the company’s internal Rooted for Good program. Jackson Family Wines’ owner Barbara Banke stresses the importance of local community service work by the company’s employees so they may further implement their commitment to overall sustainable practices.
