El Coyote and Fidel Rueda join forces on Friday, August 17 at 8 p.m. at the Chumash Casino Resort’s Samala Showroom to perform their unique blend of the Latin Ranchera, Norteño and Banda genres.
El Coyote, born José Angel Ledezma Quintero, originally dreamt of being a professional baseball player which led him to Mazatlán, Mexico, the capital of Banda music. By the time he was 19 years old, he was part of the first generation of Banda vocalists. Beginning in 1989, El Coyote was part of La Original Banda El Limón de Salvador Lizárraga, Banda La Costeña De Ramón López Alvarado, La Original Banda El Limón and Banda Los Recoditos. Since the release of his first solo album in 1997, he has released 20 albums.
From a very young age, Fidel Rueda had a natural musical talent, especially when it came to singing and playing the accordion. With age, his talent grew and he was invited to play at local events and parties. In the early 2000s, Rueda formed Los Buitres de Culiacan which led to a growing fan base not just for the band but for Rueda himself. After splitting from the band in 2006, Rueda released his solo debut album, Paz En Este Amor, which went on to land a spot on the Billboard charts in both the Regional Mexican Airplay and Hot Latin Tracks categories. Rueda’s experimental sound features drums, horns and an accordion.
