Residency starts August 13
Please join DANCEworks in celebrating its 10th Anniversary with a special appearance from choreographer Doug Elkin’s. The show runs September 7 and September 8 at 8 p.m. at the Lobero Theatre located at 33 E. Canon Perdido St. The night features special performances by DANCEworks Alum choreographers such as Aszure Barton, Brian Brooks, Larry Keigwin, Mark Dendy, Adam Barruch, Kate Weare and Doug Varone. The September performances are created during the month-long residency which takes place from August 13 to September 8.
Doug Elkins is back to create a new work based on influences from Japanese philosophy and art. Elkins is a recipient of significant choreographic commissions and awards, and has been praised by The New York Times as, “one of the most musical, witty and inventive choreographers of his generation.”
Fridays August 17, 24, and 31 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Lobero Theatre attend Friday Club. It has been a huge success with fans of contemporary dance in the Santa Barbara area, as well as an infrequent opportunity to see a New York choreographer’s process. You and a guest get access to rehearsals and an energetic reception with Doug Elkins and the company each Friday of their residency.
