Tony-award winning show Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike has finally made its way to the stages of Santa Barbara. Now playing at the Solvang Festival Theatre, the play, written by Christopher Durang, will be performed every night at 8 p.m. through July 22. Although appropriate for children over 14, the play is recommended for the enjoyment of adults due to the subject matter and adult language.
Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike is directed by Mark Booher, a member of the Pacific Center for Performing Arts (PCPA) since 1999 and director of over 20 productions. The cast features Peter S. Hadres as Vanya, Polly Firestone Walker as Masha, Anne Guynn as Sonia, and Sam Bravo as Spike. The play originally premiered at the McCarter Theater in 2012 and later went on to debut on Broadway in 2013. With a total of 201 performances, the play earned six Tony award nominations.
