Residents of the Santa Ynez Valley have access to the best local products from artisan foods to local wines. Wine lovers in the valley can now find affordable imported and domestic wines from Varuna Wines, a new online wine store operating in Buellton. Varuna Wines has a network of sommeliers and wine experts from across the globe, that source wines directly from exclusive vineyards. Additionally, these wines cannot be found on local wine store shelves.
“As a local winery owner, my staff and I promote local wineries every day,” explains Owner and Director of Winemaking at Margerum Winery, Doug Margerum. “We also know that wine lovers need a reference point when discovering new local wines such as learning more about grape varietals, winemaking styles, and vineyard practices. We started Varuna Wines as a way to offer wine drinkers a chance to try sommelier-approved wines from around the world without spending an arm-and-a-leg.”
By sourcing directly from the vineyards, Varuna Wines sells all of their wines at warehouse prices. Varuna offers about four dozen red, white, rosé and sparkling wines from regions such as France, Slovakia, Italy, Spain, and Argentina. It also sells domestic wines for those who prefer California wine.
To support locals and provide an affordable industry for members to try international wines, Varuna Wines is offering local pickup every month at Margerum Wine Company located at 59 Industrial Way in Buellton. Customers can purchase single bottles, cases or receive a Collector’s Box every 1, 2 or 3-months through a subscription. The Collector’s Box is a mixed case of wines that changes monthly and is discounted. As a subscriber, customers will receive digital tasting notes with information about each wine. All customers can place a regular order anytime on the website and save on shipping by picking up their order in Buellton.
