Sta. Rita Hills’ Brewer-Clifton winery opens their first offsite tasting room in historic downtown Los Olivos. The location offers the Brewer-Clifton line of appellation and single vineyard estate wines, Diatom Chardonnay, and the soon-to-be-released Ex Post Facto Syrah.
Previously, Brewer-Clifton’s wines were only available through a mailing list, on-site, or by appointment, but founder and winemaker Greg Brewer explains the reason behind opening this new location: “I realized that for all the years we hosted customers at our Lompoc winery, we were only engaging people who were already aware and committed to our work. With our new location in the heart of a very vibrant Los Olivos, we now have the opportunity to attract new enthusiasts to explore Sta. Rita Hills, the cool and breezy Highway 246 corridor towards Lompoc that is the provenance of our wines, and the region to which I have dedicated the entirety of my professional life.”
The new Los Olivos location is very personal to Brewer, who plans to be around to welcome guests when he gets the chance. The tasting room’s design reflects Brewer’s minimalistic philosophy with its open, light-filled space decorated with only a few personal items that have special meaning to Brewer, including his mother’s typewriter from her days as a District Attorney, a piece of bamboo artwork made for him by his daughter, and a prized set of Japanese Shinto screens.
The tasting room also features occasional library wine offerings, as well as the winery’s only large-format magnum bottlings. A small selection of logo’d wearables, glassware and accessories are available for purchase.
The new tasting room is located at 2367 Alamo Pintado Ave. and is open daily from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. For more information, visit their website at www.brewerclifton.com.
