Chumash Casino Resort hosts a boxing event for the first time in over three years on July 6. The World Fighting Championships features its WFC 91 event in the resort’s Samala Showroom, where the amateur matches begin at 5:30 p.m. and the professional bouts take place at 7 p.m. Professional fighters Joe Perez, Manuel Romero, Benji Gomez, Oscar Mendoza, Mefi Monterroso, Gerardo Alvarez, Matt Gavers, Angel Flores, Jose Luis Rodriguez, Johnny Estrada, and Rudy Ochoa are all scheduled for fights.
The last time the Chumash Casino Resort held a boxing event was January 9, 2015. Shortly after, the resort underwent a major expansion project that temporarily eliminated the possibility for more fights in the showroom. The Chumash Casino Resort is excited to once again welcome this entertainment back onto its grounds.
“Boxing has been a popular event in our showroom since we first started to showcase it in 2004,” says Wayne Hurte, executive director of marketing at the Chumash Casino Resort. “Once our recent expansion was complete, we were focused on finding the right partnership in order to bring boxing back to the casino. World Fighting Championships is a company that not only knows boxing, but it also offers mixed martial arts events, which we’re interested in looking into for our future schedule.”
Don’t miss an opportunity to see the best local professional and amateur boxers hit the ring in one of the most popular venues for entertainment in Santa Barbara County. However, luckily for boxing fans, it looks like a lasting partnership may be blooming between the Chumash Casino Resort and World Fighting Championships, one that ensures plenty of fighting entertainment for years to come.
The Chumash Casino Resort is located at 3400 CA-246, Santa Ynez. Tickets for all upcoming events can be purchased here.
