The Jewish Federation of Greater Santa Barbara’s Art at the JCC presents the Abstract Art Collective 4th Annual ArtSEE fundraiser, an Abstract Art Collective (AAC) juried exhibit and additional art sale.
The ArtSEE exhibit includes a wide range of abstract media—painting, assemblage/collage, printmaking, photography and digital art, encompassing as many artistic processes as there are artists: one artist works in an intuitive arc—not knowing how a piece will begin or end—while another has a defined concept, working until that concept is expressed to their satisfaction.
One such example is the featured 100-piece grid wall display of original 10” x 10” abstract artworks, created and donated by AAC members and offered for sale on a first-come-first-choose basis.
In addition, 100% of the proceeds from these sales go to SEE International, a nonprofit, humanitarian organization whose volunteer eye surgeons generously work to restore sight to disadvantaged blind individuals worldwide. Since its founding in 1974, SEE has treated more than four million men, women, and children, and has performed over half a million sight-restoring surgeries.
Also on display is a juried exhibition of larger abstract works commissioned by AAC members. The juror for the exhibit is Kerry Methner, Ph.D, Editor and Publisher at Community Voice: Santa Barbara. Twenty-five percent of sales from the juried pieces go to benefit the JCC.
The exhibit’s opening reception takes place at the Bronfman Family Jewish Community Center (525 Chapala St., Santa Barbara) on Sunday, June 10, from 2-4 p.m. Come enjoy appetizers, wine and fine music, free and open to the public.
The exhibition runs through August 9, with the closing reception taking place on Tuesday, August 7, from 5-7 p.m. For more information, visit jewishsantabarbara.org
