“This is our first time coming back to Santa Barbara in a while,” says Verdine White, founding member and bassist of this timeless band.
Since its start in the early 70s, the group has traveled worldwide, performing at renowned venues like New York’s Madison Square Garden, London’s Wembley Arena, and Japan’s Tokyo Dome. Most recently, Earth, Wind and Fire has taken up their first Las Vegas residency at The Venetian, from May 2 to May 12.
Their soulful pop rhythms have won the hearts of several generations, from the people who grew up with their music to those who hear it on today’s classic radio.
Their hit-single “September” made it to number one on the U.S. R&B charts and number eight on the U.S. Pop charts after its release in early 1978. “Let’s Groove” re-energized their career a few years later, topping the R&B charts for eight consecutive weeks and causing their Raise! album to go platinum.
“We see people from across generations coming to our shows, which is fantastic. That’s what we love,” says White.
Fans of all ages can expect a fun, high-energy performance filled not only with the classics we all know and love but also a few surprises. White says, “You’re going to leave feeling better than when you came.”
The show begins at 8 p.m. For tickets and more information, visit thearlingtontheatre.com. The Arlington Theater is located at 1317 State St., Santa Barbara.
