The Mike Moses Memorial Texas Hold’Em Poker Tournament takes place at 2 p.m. sharp on March 11, at the Carriage Museum, 129 Castillo St.

Mike Moses dedicated his life to public service. With years of life-guarding already under his belt, Moses joined the Santa Barbara City Fire Department (SBFD) in 1984. He quickly worked his way up, becoming captain in 1997.

Greg Pfeifer, a fellow lifeguard and friend, describes Moses as, “friendly, kind, generous, compassionate, intelligent and funny. He also had the gift of equanimity. He had the uncanny ability to remain cool, calm, and graceful, even in the most stressful, challenging situations.”

Santa Barbara City Firefighters have personally experienced the devastation that the Thomas Fire and Montecito Flood caused this beloved community. This year, the proceeds from the tournament will go towards supporting these victims of terrible tragedy.
