An annual event, the benefit concert supports young string musicians and features artists Mary Beth Woodruff (violin; founder/director of Santa Barbara Strings), Jane Chung (violin), Basil Vendryes (viola), and Andrew Smith (cello).
The program includes pieces by composers Brahms, Mozart and Webern and will be followed by a complementary Artists’ Reception featuring local wines.
The Santa Barbara Strings is a classical music program for kids in the Santa Barbara and Ventura counties which supports young string musicians from ages 5-15. The program is headed by artist and instructor Mary Beth Woodruff, the Santa Barbara center representative for the Royal Conservatory of Music Development Program. Woodruff is world-renowned for her career as an international violinist and educator.
The Artistry of Strings benefit concert features performances by the Elite Student Honors Quartet as well as by Woodruff and her professional colleagues. The concert will take place at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 10 at Hahn Hall at Music Academy of the West (1070 Fairway Rd.) in Santa Barbara.
