Strolling the charming streets of Solvang just got even more engaging—the town recently launched a new app geared toward walking and learning.
Solvang, an eclectic little town located in the Santa Ynez Valley, is unique for its European culture, cuisine, arts and shopping. Founded in 1911 by a group of Danish-Americans, today Solvang is only home to some 5,800 residents. Often referred to as “California’s Denmark,” the town is located in wine country and relies heavily on the profit it brings in from tourism, attracting over one million visits each year.
The Solvang Heritage Walk App provides an audio walking tour of Solvang, including 22 stops in a 1.9 mile radius. The app includes both photos and maps, and is designed to highlight the “history, culture, arts, and attractions” of the town, according to the Solvang Conference and Visitors Bureau. The walking tour is estimated just over one hour, and was created in collaboration with the Elverhoj Museum of History and Art.
The Solvang Heritage Walk App is free and can be found through the main Solvang Experience App on Apple or Android systems, and can also be downloaded by visiting www.SolvangUSA.com.
