Metamorphosis, a documentary focused on the implications of climate change, screens Friday, February 2 at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Today’s world premiere is a FREE event.

The documentary explores the global environmental crisis that we humans have created—highlighting how human impact has led to species vanishing, communities being devastated by fires, and entire ecosystems collapsing. Metamorphosis depicts environmental degradation as an opportunity for humans to transform their ways of thinking and use creativity and innovation to find solutions for our planet and our communities.

Written and directed by Nova Ami and Velcrow Ripper, the film features stunning images to demonstrate how we can move forward from destruction to creation, weaving in stories from artists, scientists, and children who have a radical new hope for our future.

The film will show at 2 p.m. at the Lobero Theatre (33 E. Canon Perdido St.) in downtown Santa Barbara this Friday, and again on Saturday, February 3 at 11:20 a.m. at the Metropolitan Metro 4 Theatre (618 State St.). Tickets can be purchased on the Santa Barbara International Film Festival website.
