For Santa Barbara residents in need of a dose of culture and art, look no further. UCSB Arts & Lectures presents acclaimed modern dance group ODC/Dance and their performance of multimedia work boulders and bones on Tuesday, October 17 at 8 p.m. at the Granada Theatre (1214 State St.).
San Francisco-based ODC/Dance is renowned for virtuosic technique in contemporary dance. They are performing boulders and bones in Santa Barbara before headlining the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Next Wave Festival.
Co-choreographed by ODC artistic directors Brenda Way and KT Nelson, and inspired by land-art from sculptor Andy Goldsworthy, the movement is set to a live, driving electro-acoustic score composed by cellist Zoë Keating. Way and Nelson’s fearless choreography touches on transformation in both art and nature.
The intense backdrops paired with haunting melodies and dazzling dance moves are sure to thrill the senses!
ODC/Dance Company is comprised of 11 world-class dancers, and performs for more than 50,000 people annually. Past highlights include numerous appearances at the Joyce Theater in New York, sold out performances at the Kennedy Center, standing-room-only engagements in Europe and Russia, and two tours to Asia.
