Tales from the Tavern (TFTT), the biannual concert series taking place in Santa Ynez’s Maverick Saloon (3687 Sagunto St.), has announced their 15th fall season lineup! This season welcomes back some returning favorites as well as a few newcomers.
The series gets underway on September 20 with Robbie Fulks, who was nominated this year for two Grammy awards — Best Folk Album for Upland Stories and Best American Roots Song for “Alabama at Night.” This is his first time performing at Tales from the Tavern.
Week two of the series brings a co-bill with local Wil Ridge, who is returning with a batch of new songs September 27. Ridge is coming fresh off of an extensive tour throughout the country, and he is accompanied by the delightful Elizabeth Cook. Cook is a bold and brilliant Nashville singer-songwriter and the host of the nationally syndicated XM/Sirius radio show “Elizabeth Cook’s Apron Strings” on Outlaw Country.
Ray Bonneville is another great artist who has been to Tales from the Tavern once before, and he is performing in Week Three of the Series on October 11. Bonneville is a blues musician known for his New Orleans influence and rich vocals.
Michael Reno Harrell is back for his second appearance at Tales from the Tavern on October 25. Hailing from the mountains of North Carolina, Harrell is regarded as one of the country’s great musical storytellers. TFTT will commence the evening with a spoken word performance from one of their wonderful Santa Ynez Valley writers.
On November 1, TFTT presents a spirited performance by great Irish rock band, the Young Dubliners, in a special intimate concert. This is their first time performing in the series.
The season comes to a close November 15 with a “songwriters in the round” night. Tales from the Tavern welcomes back Danny Kortchmar, Steve Postell and Dan Navarro, playing a great collection of songs, including many mega hits recorded by artists such as Don Henley, James Taylor, Pat Benatar and more.
