The National American Institute of Architects (AIA) Board of the Class of 2017 of the College of Fellows included architect Dennis Thompson. Thompson is founding principal of Thompson Naylor Architects and has been a speaker, teacher and advocate of green building and sustainable design in the Santa Barbara area since the 1970s. He has been a participant and a leader and a participant in organizations including the Community Environmental Council, The Sustainability Project, The Green Building Alliance, Santa Barbara Architecture 2030 and the Mesa Architects. His firm has had a hand in designing a multitude of residential and institutional projects including several award-winning and LEED-certified buildings.

“The achievement of Fellow is much like a lifetime achievement award in other organizations and not easy to accomplish. We have two reasons to celebrate Mr. Thompson’s accomplishment: the honor itself is [a] testament to the value architects bring to the community and their own personal contributions to society,” says Tara Rizzi, AIASB Executive Director.
