The Granada Theatre Concert Series presents Brian Setzer Orchestra’s Christmas Rocks! on Monday, December 19 at the Granada Theatre (1214 State St.) at 7:30 p.m. Brian Setzer, a three-time Grammy Award winner, will perform with his 19-piece orchestra and feature new music from their Christmas album, Rockin’ Rudolph, their three other holiday albums, and his own original hits.
Audience members will be able to see one of the world’s greatest guitarists and his vocal stylings, along with his Orchestra’s horn arrangements, guaranteed to bring the holiday spirit. Setzer is praised for his original and bold tunes while reviving two past genres: rockabilly in the ‘80’s and swing in the ‘90’s. Having had many chart-topping records and received the Orville H. Gibson Lifetime Achievement Award, Setzer has sold 13 million hits throughout his solo career and time with the Stray Cats. In addition to his musical career, Setzer has appeared in both the film La Bamba in 1987, playing Eddie Cochran, and in The Simpsons, as himself, alongside Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Tom Petty in 2002. Setzer also had the honor of being personally requested to induct Chet Atkins into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. More recently, in 2014, Setzer was asked to donate a replica of his original 1959 Gretsch 6120 “Stray Cat” guitar.
In addition to hearing the both festive and retro holiday music, audience members will be able dance the night away right in front of the stage!
