The home to the Central Coast’s wine country, Santa Ynez Valley will be kicking off the fall season with its Annual Santa Ynez Valley Scarecrow Fest from Friday, Oct. 9 through Friday, Nov. 9. The month-long celebration will include the Santa Ynez Valley (SYV) communities of Ballard, Buellton, Los Alamos, Los Olivos, Santa Ynez and the town that started the original Scarecrow Fest (and last year’s winner), Solvang. Visitors and locals alike are invited to this fun event to stay and play and enjoy all the scheduled events in store.
Over 200 scarecrows will be at this year’s festival, and the public is invited to judge and vote for their favorites. Each will be created by a local business, individual, or school organization from one of the five towns. The winning scarecrows from each town will be placed in the running for the 2015 “Harvest Cup: Best in the Valley” title and trophy, which will be announced at a Nov. 18 ceremony in Buellton.
