The Arts Fund Presents the Spring 2015 Teen Arts Mentorship Group Exhibition

The Arts Fund Spring 2015 Teen Arts Mentorship Group Exhibition will be held at the Arts Fund Gallery with an opening reception on June 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. The work will be on view in the gallery through July 18. The exhibition features the work of 25 painting, drawing, and photography students and is curated by their peers who have participated in a curatorial mentorship class with Crista Dix of wall space gallery.

For the first time ever, a catalog of works from the spring mentorship classes will be available for purchase at the show. By purchasing the catalog, gallery viewers will be able to support The Arts Fund and the creative opportunities it brings into the community each year.

This year, the mentorship classes include Old Master’s Painting with Pamela Larsson-Toscher, Draw to Explore: Journaling and the Artistic Process with Julie B. Montgomery, Alternative Process Photography with Joyce WilsonGallery and Curatorial Studies with Crista Dix, and Public Murals with John Hood. The show features the work of students from Anacapa School, Carpinteria High School, Dos Pueblos High School, San Marcos High School, Santa Barbara High School, Santa Ynez High School, Crane Country Day School, Garden Street Academy, Notre Dame, Providence Hall and Goleta Valley Junior High.

For 20 years, this unique art enrichment program has been giving teen artists the opportunity to work with local artists. The Teen Arts Mentorship provides students with experience working in a studio environment as well as portfolio-quality work and a chance to have their work displayed in a professional gallery.

If you’re interested in viewing the exhibition, the Arts Fund Gallery is located at located at 205-C Santa Barbara St. The gallery is open to the public Wednesday through Friday between noon and 5 p.m. and is free for all.
