S.Y. Kitchen presents the Arcadian Winemaker Dinner, an exclusive wine-tasting dinner set to take place on June 18. Chef Luca Crestanelli is collaborating with Joe Davis of Arcadian Winery and has created an excellent menu to be paired with these exceptional wines.

In the 1980s, Davis began his winemaking career, and by 1996 he had opened his own brand, which is known for quality Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah, made with grapes from some of the finest vineyards on the Central Coast.

Unlike many Central Coast Winemakers who produce wines that are best in their youth, Davis’ wine gets better with age. His technique, which utilizes stem inclusion and extended barrel aging, has been significantly influenced by the winemakers of Burgundy, particularly Domaine Dujac. Davis is privy to all the intricacies of the vineyards and keeps a thorough record of each vintage he harvests. Davis touts his 2001 Gary’s Vineyard Syrah as his best wine yet, encouraging wine enthusiasts to look forward to it.arcadianlogo

“I admire Joe Davis’s willingness to take risks,” says Antonio Galloni in his 2013 Vinous Media reviews of Arcadian. “The intellectual desire to experiment and push the envelope is a quality many of the world’s greatest winemakers share.” Arcadian traditionally harvests fruit with lower natural sugars and higher natural acidity than their counterparts. It is believed that Arcadian wine will continue to get better as it ages inside the bottle, producing a more unique taste as a result.
