Margaret Cafarelli has begun her two-year term as chair of the Board of Directors for the Music Academy of the West. Cafarelli, who is succeeding previous chair Robert Toledo, began her term on January 1, after the elections took place last December. Cafarelli has been a part of the Music Academy Board since 2009, as well as various other organizations throughout Santa Barbara, including the UCSB Economic Forecast Project and the Santa Barbara Downtown Organization. She was the Board’s first vice chair in 2013, at the same time when Toledo was elected chair.
Cafarelli has been involved with the Music Academy for several years, from chairing the Santa Barbara Golf Invitational, an annual Music Academy benefit, to participating in other programs further benefitting Academy Fellows. Cafarelli is a real estate executive, who founded her own firm called Urban Developments in 1999, which specializes in sustainable urban development and investment.
