It’s finally open for business and well worth the wait! We’re talking about The Outpost restaurant at The Goodland, which is the new Kimpton hotel in Goleta at 5650 Calle Real. Chef Derek Simcik (formerly head chef of the Atwood in Chicago) has created an exciting new menu featuring locally- sourced, Southern California-inspired cuisine.
On top of the food, the restaurant offers full service, a lobby, two bars, including a poolside bar, and outdoor as well as indoor dining options, taking full advantage of the California setting.
During the day, fresh-pressed juices are served. The cocktail menu at night is all hand-crafted, plus there’s an option for “mocktails” for all the non-drinkers and designated drivers. The wine list is curated by Kimpton master sommelier Emily Wines features all local Central Coast wineries.
As for food, there’s an emphasis on shareable bites, and the menu features fish tacos, sesame Pork bao-buns, kale salad, a wonderful grilled Cesar, and make-it-yourself guacamole, as well as Santa Barbara halibut, a flavorful pork belly and more.
“I am excited to use all of the great ingredients that are available in this area. I want to cook food that’s fun, delicious, and inspired by all of the great cultures in Southern California,” says Simcik. “I hope that people will come to Outpost and have a good time—whether they’re dining with a group of friends outside, or on a date-night inside.”
As a versatile and fresh addition to Goleta, The Outpost is well worth a try.
