Chris Thile Sheds New Light on Classic Sounds

Posted on Feb 8 by Seasons Intern

Chris Thile, world renowned mandolinist, will be performing at the Lobero Theatre on February 11 at 8 p.m. to celebrate his new record, Bach: Sonatas and Partitas, Vol 1.

Thile is a MacArthur Grant-winning musician who has taken a progressive look at a classical sound. This concert will include excerpts from Bach as well as Thile’s own composed works and new contemporary tunes. Thile will interpret Bach’s traditional violin pieces into mandolin, hoping to cast a new light on the classics. Thile has sold more than two million records and released three solo albums thus far after performing in duets and collaborations with other famous musicians in the past. He was awarded a Grammy for his work with Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer and Stuart Duncan.
