The beautifully refurbished Lobero Theatre is gearing up for a big month in January.

Kicking off the 2014 Encore season is legendary singer-songwriter David Crosby on Thursday, January 16, as he performs from his first new album in 20 years in his hometown. Crosby will release Croz, his first solo album of studio material in 20 years, on January 28. In support of the release, Crosby and his touring band are performing a series of concert dates in early 2014 with repertoire spanning Crosby’s entire career, including songs from Croz and his 1971 solo debut If I Could Only Remember My Name, as well as selections from The Byrds, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and his partnership as a duo with Nash. Accompanying Crosby on the road are James Raymond (keyboards), Shane Fontayne (guitar), Kevin McCormick (bass), Steve DiStanislao (drums, percussion), and Marcus Eaton (guitar). All tickets include a copy of David’s new album Croz, VIP packages include a live recording of the concert.

On Friday, January 17 Lobero LIVE presents Shawn Colvin on as part of the Encore Season Voices Series. Grammy Award-winning singer Colvin crafts songs with deep meaning that become treasured, lifetime companions for their listeners. As a storyteller, Colvin is both keen and warm-hearted, leavening even the toughest tales with tenderness, empathy, and a searing sense of humor. Her three Grammy  Awards, nine albums, non-stop touring schedule and songs in major motion pictures are a testament to her remarkable drive and canon of work. Over the years she has shared the stage and toured with legendary artists such as Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Hornsby, Emmylou Harris, John Hiatt, Don Henley and Lyle Lovett.

Saturday, January 18 brings comic Colin Quinn, as he takes on the founding fathers in UNCONSTITUTIONAL. A native of Brooklyn, Quinn began his stand-up career in New York as a regular on the comedy club circuit. In 1995, he landed a spot on “Saturday Night Live,” where he entertained audiences for five seasons with his writing and unforgettable characters before stepping in as anchor for SNL’s popular “Weekend Update” segment. Quinn returns to the stage in UNCONSTITUTIONAL where he tackles 226 years of American Constitutional calamities in 70 minutes. Quinn offers his unique comedic perspective on our national character. From predator drones to the Kardashians, he pulls no punches in asking if this is what the founding fathers planned.

The Lobero Theatre Foundation has been working hard preserving and enhancing Santa Barbara’s 140-year-old home for live music, dance and theatre as part of the Encore: Lobero campaign. New seats offer more legroom and better sightlines than ever before, and improved airflow and enlarged restrooms guarantee this will be the most comfortable season yet. Complete calendar listings can be found at Lobero.com.
