You scream! I scream! Santa Barbara screams for ice cream!
Those of you that frequent State Street have probably noticed a whiff of sinfully delicious decadence in the air. McConnell’s Fine Ice Cream has been awing its customers since Gordon “Mac” McConnell and his wife Ernesteen opened their first location on State & Mission Streets in 1949. Purchased by the Ein-Palmer family in 2012, McConnell’s has returned to State Street once again. The new location offers a truly remarkable American ice cream parlor experience for customers that will leave their taste buds wanting more.
Thirty-two flavors of rich ice cream and countless toppings, sauces and baked items all made in-house make McConnell’s a must visit destination for Santa Barbara residents and tourists. “We feel a connection to Santa Barbara, in that our roots as a brand go back almost 70 years here. As time goes on, we hope to continue to build on that relationship by establishing even deeper connections through community events and outreach,” says owner Michael Palmer.
After 64 years of creamy goodness, McConnell’s is still making ice cream completely from scratch, using 22% butterfat and no added air at its production facility, the Old Dairy. This one-of-a-kind Santa Barbara ice cream is currently available at the new location and licensed scoop shops around the Santa Barbara area. Move to another city or state? No problem! McConnell’s ice cream pints can also be purchased at Gelson’s and Whole Foods, as well as other retail grocery, specialty and gourmet retails from Southern California to Seattle. Pints can also be purchased online via McConnell’s website and sent throughout the United States, which ensures that anyone can satisfy their Mc-cravings. The new location is located at 728 State Street and is open daily from noon–10 p.m.
