Experience the sounds (and sights!) of the seasons on April 13 and 14 at The Granada Theatre, where three accomplished artists will join the Santa Barbara Symphony to depict the changing year in a dynamic multimedia event.
Continuing the Santa Barbara Symphony’s 60th anniversary season, internationally acclaimed guest conductor Gregory Vajda will begin by leading the orchestra in a performance of Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. A beguiling set of four concertos that evokes images of the shifting seasons, this beloved symphonic work will also incorporate the talents of virtuosic violinist and prodigious performer Nigel Armstrong.
Next on the program is a captivating recreation of Alexander Glazunov’s colorful ballet The Seasons, during which renowned Hollywood scenic artist Jett Green will swirl her brush live onstage as her creations are projected on a screen. Green, whose rich, luminescent, meticulously detailed paintings have enlivened films like The NeverEnding Story, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Star Trek 3, is sure to render the changes of the earthly seasons with mesmerizing precision.
Ticket holders are also invited to attend “Behind the Music,” a lively, interactive pre-concert talk that offers fresh, fascinating insight into the music program and the works to be performed.
