Nothing is more encouraging than seeing the next generation of dancers perform with so much passion and exuberance. From March 9–16, Center Stage Theater welcomes the young and the talented from Santa Barbara Dance Arts and Arts Mentorship Program in their 15th annual performance, Configuration. The show is at Center Stage Theater on March 9, 15 and 16 at 7 p.m., and on March 10 and 16 at 2 p.m.

Performing original pieces by professional choreographers, the dancers also showcase four student works that are competing for the Student Choreography Award and a $250 cash prize provided by Beds 4 U. Along with jazz, hip-hop and contemporary pieces, this time around, the pieces also include videography in their routines, exploring the use of film and dance, creating a whole new artistic experience.

These students, ages 10 to 18, are Santa Barbara’s emerging artists. With mandatory rehearsals and required classes, they are given a pre-professional experience, as well as guidance from mentors such as members from Cirque du Soleil, Parsons Dance and Alvin Ailey. All the pieces are full of energy and emotion, as each student possesses amazing poise and athleticism. Each dance expresses something different, providing a family-friendly show that will absolutely impress!

As this show becomes more popular every year, I’d suggest buying your tickets now before they sell out. Just click here!
