We all know the story: a beautiful young woman sacrifices her freedom to save her father by locking herself away with a cruel beast, but soon the beast’s true heart is revealed and the two live happily ever after. See the beloved story come to life as State Street Ballet brings Beauty and the Beast to the Lobero Theatre on Saturday and Sunday, March 9 and 10.

The ballet, based on the original French fairytale, features choreography by Emmy Award-winner Robert Sund and principal dancers Kate Kadow and Ryan Camou. The beautiful set designs, enchanting costumes and breathtaking score by Pyoter Tchaikovsky truly make for a magical evening.

State Street Ballet is known for its innovation and cutting-edge performances that still retain grace and sophistication. The ballet melds facets of the original fairytale, the 1946 film by Jean Cocteau and its own modern twists on the Lobero stage.

For those who enjoyed the company’s performance with Santa Barbara Symphony during the Firebird Suite, Beauty and the Beast is sure to serve as an excellent follow-up.

The Saturday show begins at 7:30 p.m. followed by Sunday’s at 2 p.m. For tickets, call the box office at 805/963-0761 or click here.
