Lace up your high-tops and tune in for New Order and special guest Johnny Marr at Santa Barbara Bowl! New wave meets electronic on Thursday, April 18 at 7 p.m., welcoming these awesome musical talents to one of the largest outdoor amphitheaters in town. Presented by Nederlander Concerts, the Bowl will pump with an out-of-this-world drum beat, compelling you to get up and dance!
New Order recently released The Lost Sirens, an eight-track mini album, written, produced and recorded by Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris and Philip Cunningham. Drummer Morris explains how the album came into fruition.
“Lost Sirens? Well, it’s not really lost,” says Morris. “I remember that Martin Hannett once had an idea of making a record and burying it in his garden, so that one day someone would dig it up, like a time capsule. We just stuck our record in a cupboard.”
Just as guests of the event will rediscover their love for eighties jams, the band rediscovered its buried musical work! “When we unearthed it from the cupboard recently, with the intention of re-editing some of the songs, we all agreed they didn’t actually need it, and it should just be out there. So here it is,” Morris continues.
New Order’s special guest, Johnny Marr, has his own claim-to-fame as well. In 1982, at just 18 years-old, Marr formed The Smiths with English singer and lyricist Steven Patrick Morrissey. In 2010, Marr paired up with Hans Zimmer to score Christopher Nolan’s successful film Inception.
Tickets go on sale tomorrow at 11 a.m.!
