Three new artworks are making their way to the “Summer Art in the Garden” exhibit at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden. This exhibit features art of California’s native plants and panoramas, and now joining is stained glass-on-glass works by award-winning artist Kathleen Crocetti. She was inspired to create these pieces while on her recent bike trip across California with her son. Crocetti says, “On the ride I took many wonderful photos and was completely invigorated to create three new works from this adventure for the exhibition at the Garden. One of my new favorites is inspired by the Arroyo Hondo Arch Bridge which we encountered in Santa Barbara County just outside of Refugio.”
Crocetti creates her fourth new piece at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden Aug. 8 from 1–5 p.m. with the help of the public. She encourages participants to choose colors, chip and place glass on the design, and she shows participants how colored glass is transferred onto a solid piece of tempered glass. This new piece will be added to the installation at a later date. The exhibit is on display through Labor Day and is free with paid admission to the Garden. Pieces are available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Santa Barbara Botanic Garden general fund. For more information click here.
