Another great Santa Barbara International Film Festival is well underway.
We can’t wait for tonight’s tribute to the great director, Martin Scorsese, whose current film Hugo is a top contender for the Oscar’s.
We saw some great films over the weekend. Staff favorites so far were Starbuck,
which screens again on Friday at 7:40 p.m. at the Metro 4; Pina 3D (a best documentary nominee for an Academy Award and probably the best use we’ve seen of 3D technology since Avatar), which screens again on Saturday morning at 10:40 a.m. at the Metro.
Our staff was also wowed by Cadaver, one of several shorts in the animated short program 2.
It’s not scheduled to play again, but keep your eye on the SBIFF website for updates, as additional screenings are added as the festival progresses. Also, SBIFF has a new app this year which is very cool and will let you see the updates in the schedule in real time on your iphone or ipod. For more information click here or search for festival genius in the app store.
Also, don’t forget about 3rd Weekend, February 11-12, where film festival favorite films are shown for FREE all weekend at the Riviera Theatre.
