Congratulations to Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum, Ojai Music Festival, Opera Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara Symphony Orchestra and State Street Ballet, all of whom received grants from the James Irvine Foundation.
These local organizations were selected this year as part of the Arts Regional Initiative. Each is planning to use the grants to advance financial sustainability within a challenging economic environment and to increase cultural participation from underrepresented communities, according to Ray Delgado of the James Irvine Foundation.
“These Central Coast arts organizations are vital anchor institutions within their communities and provide an array of important opportunities for people to engage with the arts,” says Josephine Ramirez, Arts Program Director for the Irvine Foundation. “These grants represent our continued commitment to them as they explore new ways of achieving financial sustainability and attracting culturally diverse audiences.”
Ojai Music Festival will receive $325,000, Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum will receive $250,000, Opera Santa Barbara will receive $225,000, Santa Barbara Symphony Orchestra will receive $275,000 and State Street Ballet will receive $300,000.
The grants will be awarded over three years and grantees will share resources, best practices and lessons learned.
