Group f/64: Legacy & Influence
April 16 @ 11:00 am - 5:30 pm
An event every day that begins at 11:00am, repeating until May 31, 2018
Group f/64: Legacy & Influence, is up and running April 5-May 31
See world-renowned photographers work from Edward Weston, Ansel Adams, Imogen Cunningham and Rondal Partridge and more. (A full list is at the end of this.)
At the opening reception, a patron said, “I don’t see this kind of work in Santa Barbara!” and it’s true. This is a rare opportunity to see this many of the originators of Group f/64 in a show together—possibly since the first and only show, they did in 1932 in San Francisco. Adding the progeny of the founders and with a dash of photographers – like Bristol – who was very influenced by the pack of West Coast renegade photographers changing forever, the way photography would be created, seen and appreciated.
Consisting of distinctive platinum and silver prints spread out over three rooms in the studio, you’ll get to experience the images they captured in a tour led by the son of Horace Bristol when you make an appointment to view. Hear personal stories about his dad’s work and get a chance to peek into the very beginnings of photography as fine art. See the impact these photographers had on a generation of artists and the photographic medium itself.
Make an appointment to see this unique high-end exhibition inside the historic Oreña Adobe at Kyle Irwin Design studio at 39 E. De La Guerra St., in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara.
Make viewing appointment with Henri Bristol by calling or texting 805/660-1311.
