AHA!, whose motto is “Changing the world, one teen at a time,” is an organization that creates feelings of satisfaction and triumph in teens by fostering community, character and conscience. By helping teens gain a sense of confidence and connection, AHA! attempts to put an end to bullying and hatred by addressing tough issues relevant to the lives of its students.

One of the spring after-school sessions, which focuses on learning rock ‘n’ roll cover songs—coached and mentored by music professionals and AHA! facilitators—culminates with the program’s biggest event of the year, the Sing It Out performance. In this recital, students take the stage for musical solos, demonstrating their mastery, bravery, and creative expression while their friends, peers and loved ones cheer them on.
This year’s Sing It Out event takes place on May 19 at 7 p.m. at SOhO Restaurant and Music Club, and you can also support the academy’s efforts through the purchase of raffle tickets for prizes that range from teeth whitenings to Disneyland tickets. Additionally, Santa Barbara Mayor Helene Schneider will be there in support of the AHA! students (not only will the students be singing, but Schneider will as well!); it’s not something you want to miss!
