Start your summer off the right way with treats, entertainment and fun for the entire family at the 1st Annual Calle Real Caring & Sharing Day Festival on Saturday, June 2. From 1 to 5 p.m., community members of all ages can learn about more than 40 local nonprofits at the Calle Real Shopping Center, where businesses will share their storefronts for the afternoon to draw attention to organizations such as Friends of the Goleta Valley Library, Santa Barbara Animal Rescue, Food From the Heart and Peer Buddies.
While you’re perusing the nonprofit tables, play the “Find the Hidden Letters” game for a chance to win exciting prizes. Those who sign up for the game will be entered into a drawing with over $2,000 worth of certificates, gifts and discount coupons being given away. After working up your appetite, munch on samples from local favorites Petrini’s, Cold Stone Creamery, Outback, The Nugget Bar & Grill and more.
Younger attendees will enjoy conjuring up interesting balloon animals for the balloon guy to make, admiring one of Santa Barbara’s own fire trucks and meeting firefighters, playing with critters available for on-site animal adoptions and posing at the AMS photo booth. They can also check out the bouncy castle and live radio broadcast celebrating the Grand Opening of Western Dental.
Those in the area can also stop by the rock concert at the Nugget, where Santa Barbara Youth Music Academy bands are performing, including Polarized, Cut Time and the award-winning Newcats.
