Come take part in Old Spanish Days’ newest event, Las Artistas Reception, right after the Spirits of Fiesta Auditions on April 14. The auditions are at 1 p.m. at La Cumbre Junior High, 2255 Modoc Rd., with the reception to follow at 3:30 p.m. at El Paseo Restaurant, 813 Anacapa St.
“We wish to celebrate the finalists that made it to this audition as well as recognize the new 2012 Spirit and Junior Spirit. This event will be open to the public to meet the audition finalists, the two new Spirits as well as past Spirits and the El/La Presidente/Presidenta they served,” says Cas Stimson, vice president of pageantry for Fiesta 2012.

Stimson explains that the tradition of the Spirit of Fiesta originated in 1949, and this event steps back in time to honor the young dancers who were ambassadors for Fiesta.
