We spend quite a bit of time with the people whose homes take center stage in our architectural features, and we all fell a little bit in love with the Schiffer family, who share their heartwarming tale of rebuilding their Mission Canyon home after losing it in the Jesusita fire (“From Hope to Home”) in the winter issue of Santa Barbara Seasons Magazine.
Family, friends and food are foremost in the hearts of these lovely people, and the food part of that equation is on full video display as Kim Schiffer, a professional chef, gives us a tour of her dreamy “kickass kitchen.”
Trust us, the food was every bit as delicious as it looks!

I have been fortunate to dine in great restaurants and in the homes of terrific chefs throughout the world. I am blessed to have been a guest in Kim Schiffer’s kitchen and eaten her food many times. It has been my experience that she is the the real deal, matched by some, surpassed by none.
We need more individuals who appreciate the value and have the deep love that Kim shows every time she cooks for her extended family.
Hallelujah!!!
I love it that you got your beautiful oven and your warming drawer too!
What a wonderful kitchen and garden to support all your amazing creations!
This is one of Santa Barbara’s most tasteful shining stars! Kim’s kitchen looks so warm and inviting and those bowls of preparing food had me wanting a “smell button” on my laptop. Kim is so genuine, one can feel her delight in this restored home and kitchen post fire. What a classic Santa Barbara ambience created, connecting the bounty of the land with the spirit of this lovely working kitchen, and then sharing with friends under an open sky outside.
Fabulous!
It makes Marc and I so happy to see your home, kitchen, garden and friends!
Congratulations!
Love,
Joanna
