Honoring those from Santa Barbara County who died during the Vietnam War will be the mission of the five-day visit of The Moving Wall, the original replica of the national memorial designed to honor the sacrifice of the more than 58,000 men and women who died in that conflict.
In Santa Barbara through October 3, Visitors can go to The Moving Wall 24/7 during the five-day stay and UCSB ROTC members will stand guard at The Moving Wall, as it will be illuminated throughout the night and volunteer docents will be on hand to help guide visitors locate a name and provide information on the memorial itself.

Wish I had known about this earlier. It would’ve been worth the 3 hour drive up to check it out.
There is so much pain, still, from the Vietnam war. A site that helps with the healing is — The Virtual Wall – http://www.virtualwall.org — with memorial pages honoring all the women and men who are named on “The Wall” in Washington, DC. You can leave tributes, letters, poems, photos, and other memorials to someone named on The Wall for other visitors to view, and you can search by names, by state, town, date, etc. It’s an awesome site and a great reference!
The site has been maintained since 1997 by volunteers who have ties to our soldiers and loved ones lost in Vietnam.
