Mystery in Masterpieces is back by popular demand! The Women’s Board of Santa Barbara Museum of Art (SBMA) is bringing back the unique and popular fundraising event, Mystery in Masterpieces, on Saturday, June 1 from 6–9 p.m. at SBMA.

The elegant evening includes out-witting the devious clue master and competitive sleuthing in high style surrounded by great works of art—not to mention fine wine, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres that will stimulate your inner detective, helping you follow the clues hidden in the masterpieces and ultimately unravel the mystery. If your detective devices triumph, you’ll win some exceptional prizes!

All proceeds will go to the SBMA Women’s Board, which since 1951 has contributed to the museum’s programs, produced a broad array of cultural activates and purchased works of art for the permanent collection.

The event is black-tie optional, but wit is mandatory! To purchase tickets or for additional information regarding the Santa Barbara Museum of Art Women’s Board, visit its website.

The next time you ask a friend to drinks, make it a green one with LoaTree! The Santa Barbara-based company has invited Adam C. Hall to share more about his inspiring conversion from Earth Conqueror to Earth Keeper this Tuesday, May 21 from 6 p.m.–8 p.m. at Green Drinks at Workzones.

Once a powerful financial broker and real-estate developer, Adam was reawakened with a green epiphany one day. After acquiring, developing and redeveloping a broad range of real estate—including land developments—his interests took a turn in 2007 when he decided to instead preserve land with the EarthKeeper Alliance. As part of this alliance, Hall acquires large territories slated for development and then ensures that they remain untouched.

With his 27 years of real estate and structured finance expertise, his insights might just lead to your next ecological epiphany. Whether you make this (free!) event or not, look out for his book The Earthkeeper—Undeveloping the Future being released June 3 and available for pre-order through Amazon.  For more information, click here or call 805/886-0355.

Angela Perko is a stylized, Modernist painter whose work touches upon the early inspirations of Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Cubism. Before beginning her exhibition career 11 years ago, Perko studied with landscape painter Michael Drury. Inspired by the city of Santa Barbara, she has recast the CourthouseMissionArlingtonGranada and more within her architectural landscapes. Her artwork embodies art history, poetry and prose, and her new figurative works focus on the role of women in both life and art. The most exciting feature of Perko’s highly anticipated exhibition presents the female form in a large scale, abstract illustration that is completely original to both her and the viewer. Her newest body of work includes five large scale paintings of women—representations of the female form that have never been seen at this scale before. In addition to her re-creation of the female anatomy, Perko will also feature her catalog ANGELA PERKO, which contains her newest works as well as an overview of her work throughout the past decade. Copies of the catalog will be available for sale at the opening reception on 1st Thursdays.

Come see the wondrous exhibition while it lasts!
