Santa Barbara Museum of Art (SBMA) welcomes Grammy Award-winning musician and composer, Ted Nash as part of a two-week stay as the artist in residence. During his time here, Nash will run a four-day workshop, and share insight and experience with a selection of local students and fellow musicians. Continuing with the theme of his album Portrait in Seven Shades, where he responds to MoMA masterpieces, the workshop focuses on using improvisation to guide the composition process. It also emphasizes Summer Nocturne: Works on Paper from the 1970s, which is currently on view at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art.
On Saturday, July 7 at 6 p.m., SBMA (1130 State St., Santa Barbara) hosts a free composition workshop for all students, led by Nash.
