In exciting news, the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) has released their Arts & Lectures’ 2018-19 Season Brochure highlighting many exciting up-and-coming opportunities. 2018-2019 is the 60th year UCSB Arts & Lectures (A&L) will be hosting events. A&L presents 16 debuts and premieres, including the world premiere of a new piece by the Silkroad Ensemble which is co-commissioned for the group’s 20th anniversary. This year, A&Lalso features two new series—Mind & Body and Hear & Now—which feature provocative and boundary-pushing lectures and music.
Performances include unexpected gems like Jeff Goldblum performing with his jazz band The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, Alan Cumming’s one-man show Legal Immigrant, a lecture by photographer Annie Leibovitz, music by St. Paul & The Broken Bones, dance performances by France’s coveted Ballet Preljocaj, and two nights and two programs of Joffrey Ballet Chicago. The whole season, however, features more than 65 world-class events, with even more to come.
