The Santa Barbara Choral Society is hosting a ’40s themed gathering titled the “Sentimental Journey” at the Rockwood Women’s Club, 670 Mission Canyon Rd., on Saturday, May 19 to celebrate the era of its 1948 founding.

Conductor JoAnne Wasserman will lead the SBCS chorus in songs from the ’40s and Broadway favorites. There will be wine, retro cocktails, a veritable cornucopia of canapés, a coffee & dessert bar, dancing, and live and silent auctions of vacation stays and themed items.

The “Sentimental Journey” theme embodies the post-war era of economic stability and prosperity that saw the rise of the American Broadway musical and the Big Band sound. Break out your retro and vintage outfits and accessories— from dresses, suits, hats, gloves and more— because vintage attire is encouraged! (But not required)

Visit sbchoral.org for tickets and more information.
