Santa Barbara County’s Commission for Women is hosting a series of informal listening sessions in a series called “Women Speak Up.”
“Women Speak Up” aims to bring together the local women and girls of Santa Barbara county to share thoughts, concerns, needs and ideas with their appointed district Commissioners currently serving on the Commission for Women. The series also provides an opportunity for women to communicate with local social service agencies and hear about resources that benefit and assist female residents in Santa Barbara County.
Formed in 1973, the Commission for Women is an advisory group promoting female rights and well-being. The Commission is composed of energetic and committed women from the five supervisorial districts, all of whom are active community members working to better Santa Barbara County.
The Commission collaborates with other agencies to help women in need—recognizing and recommending programs, gathering and disseminating information, conducting public meetings and advising the County Board of Supervisors.
