Come to the Center Stage Theater to see the production of Unmasked LIVE on Thursday, February 15. Presented by Weeping Willow Books, Unmasked LIVE is a performance of essays and poems from the new anthology, Unmasked, Women Write About Sex and Intimacy After Fifty.
The anthology deals with issues of sexuality among women over 50, confronting the taboo that intimacy shouldn’t be discussed after a certain age. The book stresses the importance of being able to talk about sex, and approaches sexuality as something that is not only natural, but healthy. The book contains a collection of 30 poems and 20 essays published by a diverse range of writers: mothers and grandmothers, professors, playwrights, city council women, teachers and psychotherapists.
The production is directed by Maggie Mixsell, featuring writers and performers Cheri Steinkellner, Perie Longo, Nancy Shobe, Andrea Estrada, Deborah Donohue, Maya Shaw Gale, Linda Stewart-Oaten and Tanya Ko Hong. Along with the performers, the anthology’s editors Marcia Meier and Kathleen A. Barry will also be present.
Unmasked LIVE takes place at 7:30 p.m. at the Center Stage Theater (751 Paseo Nuevo) in downtown Santa Barbara, just one day after Valentines Day. You won’t want to miss this humorous, sexy and shockingly forthright talk led by women over fifty!
